What is MSN
MSN is a Local Non-governmental Organization working in participation with Government Organizations, Local & International NGO communities; MSN provides services in environmental conservation, in sustainable livelihoods and community development that particularly benefits and addresses the needs of marginalized population in rural grassroots communities of Myanmar.
Objectives
- To dedicate in the environmental conservation through community participation not only in the mangrove forest area but also in other possible areas as well;
- To render service for community development in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, livestock, cottage industry, gender development and rural infrastructures;
- To promote the capacity of the rural community through training, workshops and Information, Education, Communication (IEC) materials;
- To work for the development of grass root community by organizing funds and services from external sources and donors interested in people-centered approach in poverty alleviation.
Goal
To promote capacity of rural communities in Myanmar in environmental conservation and production of livelihood supplies through provision of training courses and deliveryof inputs.
Organization of MSN
Mangrove Service Network(MSN) was formed with 17 Myanmar professionals as a non-profit partnership firm under the Partnership Act (1932) in December 2001 in order to provide services in promoting capacity building activities of the rural communities particularly in mangrove delta area of Myanmar in support of environmental conservation and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
Having worked for the four Human Development Initiative (HDI) projects under UNDP/FAO from 1992 to 2001, the professionals of the MSN are well experienced in the environmental conservation and community development projects in Myanmar.
MSN’s mission since the year 2002, MSN has been carrying out community development activities such as conducting technical surveys, organizing technical training courses, carrying out social mobilization activities and delivery of inputs for the local beneficiary communities in various parts of the country in collaboration with government organizations, local & international NGOs and development donors/agencies.
On 14 March 2011, MSN was registered as a non-government organization under organization law1988 at Ministry of Home Affair.
